Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Rebel Satori was established with inclusion as part of its core mission with its focus on underrepresented spiritualities and often historically-marginalized religious expressions. The Press and its imprints Ashé Journal, Queer Mojo, Queer Space, Arabi Manor, and Library of Homosexual Congress have always upheld a commitment to expand inclusion and author access in the publishing industry through its publications and related support activities. In addition to providing a platform for highlighting LGBTQ+ authors and creators, Rebel Satori is committed to expanding support for the creative universe of Diverse Voices within the communities we honor and serve.

Definitions

  • Diversity is the presence of differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective. [These are] populations that have been- and remain- underrepresented among practitioners in the field and marginalized in the broader society.
  • Equity is promoting justice, impartiality, and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems. Tackling equity issues requires an understanding of the root causes of outcome disparities within our society.
  • Inclusion is an outcome to ensure those that are diverse actually feel and/or are welcomed. Inclusion outcomes are met when [a person or institution] and its program are truly inviting to all [and] diverse individuals are able to participate fully in the decision-making processes and development opportunities within an organization or group.

Definitions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are adopted from the eXtension Foundation Impact Collaborative.
